Façade at Fillmore & ClayA sophisticated urban storefront, complete with retrofit, is coaxed from a shabby façade in San Francisco

  • Storefront unified.
  • Seismic retrofit.
  • Original detail restored.

The entrepreneurs who chose the location for a new gourmet food store needed a storefront that communicated the quality of the proposed operation. Unfortunately, the already narrow frontage had been divided into two tiny slivers, the existing structure suffered from deferred maintenance and the integrity of the original design had been obscured. Using the architectural vocabulary established by the original facade, the storefront was opened up unified, seismically upgraded and renewed to present a sophisticated urban store identity to the street.
