New Craftsman Style Home A free interpretation of Craftsman bungalow elements in the Oakland hills, California

  • Craftsman Style Bungalow.
  • Upslope site with living areas on three floors above garage all internally connected.
  • Four patios and three private decks.
  • Interior celebration of wood and joinery details.

This house, rebuilt after the Oakland Hills Fire, is “a free interpretation of Craftsman-style elements [which] creates a lively sensibility… without attempting a period duplication. This is unabashedly contemporary architecture,” says Paul Duchscherer in his book The Bungalow. “In the tradition of the Craftsman style, this design celebrates wood, and expresses a variety of textures and joinery details.”
